Heirloom Treestand
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
|
|
|
|
- What are the dimensions of the Heirloom Treestand?
Like the original, the Heirloom Treestand is
19" in diameter and 7.5" tall. The Treestand weighs 14.5 pounds.
|
|
|
- How large a tree will the Heirloom Treestand hold?
Unlike other stands that are designed specifically
for artificial trees, the Heirloom Treestand is the only rotating, musical Treestand designed to hold a real tree or, if you prefer, an artificial tree. Either type of tree is easily accommodated. The maximum recommended tree height is 10 feet or approximately 75 lbs.
The Heirloom Treestand has a low, sturdy profile. Together with the 19-inch diameter of the round, metal base, the Heirloom provides excellent stability.
|
|
|
- Can the Heirloom Treestand hold an artificial Christmas tree?
Yes, it can hold either a real tree or an artificial tree.
Simply center the real tree or the tree pole in the stand and tighten the eyebolts firmly and uniformly. For an artificial tree, place the three (3) adapters provided with the Treestand on the eyebolts and tighten as described.
|
|
|
- Is it easy to set-up the Heirloom Treestand?
Yes! Place the Christmas tree in the stand. A firm anchor is
provided when the tree trunk rests on the four-prong spike at the base of the well. Tighten or loosen opposite eyebolts until the tree stands straight. The eyebolts are purposely blunted to push the tree into position and grip it like a vise.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends tapering the base of the trunk about an inch above the original cut to aid in the absorption of water. The bottom of the Well is 2.7" in diameter, gradually increasing to 6.25" in diameter at the top of the Well. Taper the base of the trunk accordingly. For your personal safety, please always exercise extreme caution when sawing the bottom of the tree trunk.
Note: Always use proper hand and eye protection when handling your Christmas tree.
The conical self-centering tree well in the new Heirloom Treestand is somewhat larger than the original. This helps in two ways: a) the larger well means the Heirloom Treestand can hold more water and b) the base of the tree will fit more readily in the bottom of the well. Keep the water reservoir filled for a fresh, green, more vibrant tree.

|
|
- Is a rotating tree stand more likely to tip over?
No, it's not. The full 19-inch diameter of the Heirloom Treestand base
hugs the floor to make it as sturdy as possible. A three-legged stand would have to have a diameter almost twice as large to equal the Heirloom Treestand's
stability. In addition, the weight of the Heirloom Treestand base has been
increased to further enhance stability.
To prevent tipping, use a hard, flat, level area of flooring for placement
of the Treestand. Do not exceed the recommended tree size. Do not pull on the tree
branches or on the Heirloom Treestand power cord.

|
- How many lights can be used?
The electrical current limit is designed to provide bright lighting at a
safe current load. The following examples are intended only as a general guide.
Actual current loads will vary depending on line voltage. Please exercise caution
whenever dealing with electricity.
There are three (3) electrical outlets on the Heirloom Treestand-two
on the rotating Shell and one in the stationary Base. The electrical outlet in the Base is located on the side opposite the power cord near the rim of the Shell.
As a safety precaution under UL guidelines, there is a switch operated 12-amp circuit breaker located on the ground side of the Switch Box between the "ROTATE" and
"MUSIC" switches. Note: this circuit breaker switch will not operate unless tripped by a current overload condition. Do not try to force this switch under normal
operating conditions.
The lit bulbs on the light strings, Treestand rotation, music box operations, and accessories such as an electric train all contribute to the total electrical current drawn by the Treestand. The total electrical current demand cannot exceed
twelve (12) amperes.

- How can the Heirloom Treestand's electrical outlets be used?
There are three (3) electrical outlets on the Heirloom Treestand-two
on the rotating Shell and one in the stationary Base. The electrical outlet in the
Base is located on the side opposite the power cord near the rim of the Shell.
As a safety precaution under UL guidelines, there is a switch operated 12-amp
circuit breaker located on the broad side of the Switch Box between the "ROTATE" and
"MUSIC" switches. Note: this circuit breaker switch will not operate unless
tripped by a current overload condition. Do not try to force this switch under
normal operating conditions.
These receptacles provide convenient connection points for strands of tree
lights and accessories such as lighted display houses. The two-prong outlet in the
Base is ideal for plugging in a color wheel or the transformer of an electric train
whose track rests on the floor around the tree stand.
The two receptacles on the rotating Shell and the outlet in the Base deliver
electricity when the "LIGHTS" switch on the switchbox is in the "ON" position.
Electrical contact is maintained inside the Treestand so the receptacles can provide
electricity even when the tree is rotating! Note: The Heirloom Treestand
comes with clear plastic receptacle safety covers in place. We recommend that the
safety covers be retained in any unused receptacles.

- What type of music box does the Heirloom Treestand have?
The Heirloom Treestand plays two different, classic holiday melodies,
"Jingles Bells" and "Silent Night" using separate cylinder-type music movements.
The music movements have been designed to provide years of listening pleasure.
As with any music box, its mechanism is a delicate instrument best suited
for reasonable periods of operation (e.g. less than two hours of continuos play).
When switching the music off, it is advisable to stop the music at the end of the
tune as this will effectively release the pressure of the harp fingers on the music
cylinder prongs. This procedure is especially important to follow when storing the
Heirloom for the next season.
Please do not attempt to service the Heirloom Treestand yourself.
Opening the unit will void the Warranty. Write to Vintage Christmas and Other
Holidays, Inc. for assistance at www.vintageholidays.com or call 1-888-FESTIVE. We
will be glad to help.

|
- Does the Heirloom Treestand still rotate smoothly if you use many ornaments?
Yes! The robust drive motor provides smooth, quiet rotation of the tree and
accessories. The Heirloom will rotate at a speed of approximately one
revolution every 2 minutes.
|
|
|
- Can I operate the lights, music and rotate switches separately or in any combination I choose?
Yes! All of the switches can be turned on in any combination. For example,
"LIGHTS," "MUSIC," "ROTATE" can all be "ON" or just the "LIGHTS" switch can be
activated for a stationary, lighted tree. The choice is yours.

- How can I create a rotating Christmas display around the tree?
Vintage Christmas and Other Holidays, Inc. offers an accessory, the Winter
Village® Platform, which is designed to rest on the ledge of the Shell and
rotate with the tree (See illustration). This doughnut-shaped platform is made of a
lightweight, rigid material and provides a convenient and decorative display area of
approximately 11 square feet.
This platform can be used to display an entire Christmas village, nativity
scene or other lightweight objects. See our website at www.vintageholidays.com for
purchasing details and design ideas!
IMPORTANT! Regarding installation: the Winter Village® Platform should
be placed on the Heirloom Treestand before placing the Christmas tree in the
stand. The tree is then simply placed in the Treestand and secured as described
above. Use available receptacles on the top of the Heirloom Treestand
for lighted display accessories.
|
|
|
- Can I use both an electric train and the Winter Village® Platform?
Yes! We think this completes the look of the Heirloom Treestand and
Christmas tree. See our website at www.vintageholidays.com for an action video of a
fully decorated and operating tree from lights and ornaments to a rotating village
and a little train! Note: It is easier and more convenient to plug the train into
the Base outlet before adding the platform.
|
|
|
- Does the Winter Village Platform block access to the electrical receptacles?
No, it does not. The Platform rests four inches below the shell's electrical receptacles and
one inch above the Base receptacle. We suggest plugging in, for example, the transformer of an electric
train prior to adding the Platform.
